Sex REASSIGNMENT surgery
Sex Reassignment Surgery is a series of both manual and professionally administered procedures designed to help a transsexual transition to their desired sex. The patient begins this lengthy process with hormone replacement therapy, which will alter their hormones to the correct level of the correct type that they'll need for their new sex. This also forces the patient's body to begin altering secondary sex characteristics (such as body hair, breasts, and vocal cords) prior to the surgery. This makes it easier for them to appear as the sex they want. After the hormone levels are at an acceptable balance, the patient will undergo the surgery itself, in which their genitals are modified to match the patient's desired sex. Additional hormone therapy and surgeries for the chest, buttocks, thigh, neck, and face areas may be needed or wanted.
